MTCNA – April 2013

We’ve still got a couple of places left on the MTCNA (MikroTik Certified Network Associate) Training course. Come along to the Best Western Conference Hotel in Claydon (nr Ipswich) on Tuesday 16th April 2013 and over the three days learn about how to do the following list of topics with a mix of theory, practical labs and documentation designed to help you with deploying RouterOS in the workplace:

Use Netinstall to recover from software problems and installing your own default setup scripts.
Upgrading and downgrading RouterOS
Cover the correct use of User security Groups
Backups, exports, imports of configs
Software Licensing
Firewall principles, meaning and usage of input, output, forward chains, protecting router itself and customer traffic
NAT Masquerading and purpose of NAT Helpers for traffic that uses related traffic streams (SIP, PPTP, FTP)
DNS Server for caching and security
Web Proxy and using NAT rules to implement transparent proxy
Principles of Traffic shaping and prioritisation using Simple Queues and Queue Tree, especially concentrating on PCQ Queue type
Using network diagnostic tools, like ping, traceroute, torch, graphing and how to use SNMP and the CPU profile tool
How to setup a wireless AP, purpose of the different modes, such as ap-bridge, bridge, station, station-pseudobridge etc
Learn about 802.11abgn, Nstreme, Dual-Nstreme and the new Nstreme “NV2” which significantly increases throughput and scalability over 802.11
Using wireless diagnostic tools, such as sniffer, scan, spectrum analyser
How to deploy and use the MikroTik Hotspot system. Learn about “walled garden” and the different methods of authentication, plus how to diagnose what is going on
Learn how to bridge networks together with different techniques and the pros/cons of the various ways it can be done
See the basics of a simple OSPF routed network and how straight forward it can be to get it working
We also cover Tunnels (PPTP, LT2P, PPPoE etc) and how to set them up correctly on RouterOS
