How Do I Return or Replace My Faulty Ubiquiti Product? UK RMA Procedure

Here at LinITX we often get calls from customers who have purchased their Ubiquiti product from another reseller (not from LinITX), wanting to know how to return their faulty Ubiquiti product in the UK. When the other company’s customer service is either not helpful or in some cases, non-existent, the customer gets frustrated when we try to explain the correct way of returning their product for a replacement or refund is directly with the company they originally purchased from.

Is There Rain Fade on 60GHz Wireless Signals?

Many new wireless wire and wireless wire dish customers who are unfamiliar with 60GHz have been asking about rain fade and if it’s a major problem on 60GHz.  So let’s look at the facts.

At 60GHz the biggest problem is actually attenuation from Oxygen.  The O2 molecules in the air absorb the RF energy very efficiently at this frequency.  Therefore link distances tend to be much shorter than hoped for if purely considering Free Space Path Loss.  The losses at 60GHz equate to around an extra 15dB per Km over and above any FSPL.  So what about rain, fog, sleet, snow, mist etc?

Ubiquiti airFiber AF-5XHD vs AF-5X PtP Radio – What’s the Difference?

Ubiquiti recently replaced its popular AF-5X PtP (Point to Point) radio with an updated and upgraded version – the airFiber AF-5XHD. Many of our customers have been asking what’s the difference between these two models, given its slight increase in price (around 8%) and what sort of improvements can they expect with the newer AF-5XHD.

If we’re talking about performance, users of the AF-5XHD can expect an increase of up to 20% on backhaul capacity, without wasting frequency spectrum. This is a pretty big gain in performance over the AF-5X and this is based on “real world” figures as detailed in this post on the Ubiquiti forum.

The NEW Ubiquiti UniFi UAP AC PRO – What’s the Difference?

Ubiquiti has recently updated one of their most popular WiFi access points – the Unifi AC Pro Wireless Access Point (UAP-AC-PRO) with the UAP-AC-PRO-E. So what’s different about the new version?

The simple answer is, not much! The new Unifi AC Pro Wireless Access Point is essentially the same product as before, except it does not include the PoE injector power supply. This update gives customers an even better price point than the previous model (UAP-AC-PRO) and the option to purchase a Unifi AC Pro Power Supply separately.

Ubiquiti UAP AC IW in UK Back boxes

Mounting the UAP AC In-Wall

The Ubiquiti UAP AC in wall (UAP-AC-IW) has arrived and unlike the previous In-wall Unifi the AC variant is built to support multiple mounting and back box designs including UK back boxes.

The Unifi AC In-Wall does not mount in wall like the name would suggest, instead it mounts to the surface of the backbox leaving 30mm sticking out. This is better for RF performance as the radio will have less wall to power through improving performance.
